Yes. How? A neighbor recently just replaced their original door, transom & trim - all in good condition, with beautiful detailed carved wood and arched glass window and carved jamb trim - for a new paneled door (not sure if it's wood or steel to look like wood), and a white (appears to be) vinyl transom, plus black storm door. I nearly cried. I don't know if the door was salvaged or trashed - although I THINK the contractor knew he could probably make some money off of it and maybe recycled it.

So sad to see the old doors go, when they could have easily been restored. The replacements just are not as welcoming and look like they belong on a new construction site.
