CitySpace, a weekly column in the Philadelphia City Paper, was co-founded by the Design Advocacy Group and the City Paper in September 2002. Conceived as a unique weekly forum on design, planning and urbanism, CitySpace offered Philadelphia a robust conversation about the pitfalls and potential for achieving design excellence in the built environment.
Running continuously from September 2002 through December 2004, DAG was the primary contributor and editor of the column - drawing on the depth of volunteer talent and experience within its ranks to produce an offering of over 115 columns. Under DAG's leadership, CitySpace produced significant thought-pieces on urbanism as it helped frame the civic discourse on important topics from the future of Penn's Landing on the Delaware River to the role of art in the public realm. The success of CitySpace contributed to AIA Philadelphia awarding the 2004 Lewis Mumford Award for Architectural Journalism to DAG.
