As the name implies, advocating for a high-quality urban environment is fundamental to the mission of the Design Advocacy Group. Among our most notable advocacy documents (all are in the archive linked here) are the Reform Agenda (April 5, 2006) and Urban Design Evaluation (September 12, 2006).
We base our advocacy positions on the consensus that we hear at our monthly open meetings, which is refined by discussion among the members of the Steering Committee.
In addition to issuing position papers, DAG conducts regular public forums on important issues, provides expert testimony before government agencies, writes frequent letters to government agencies and to newspapers expressing our positions, and publishes regularly on newspaper op-ed pages. For many years, we were the primary contributor to “City Space,” a weekly column in the Philadelphia City Paper. The City Space archive is combined on this website with the DAGspace archive.
